A dry valley with a hot July and a cold January
At the Yakima Air Terminal, NOAAās 1991ā2020 normals show a July average high of 89.9°F, about 8 inches of precipitation a year, and January lows near 24.0°F with roughly 20 inches of snow over the winter. That is a wide swing for one slab: baking sun in summer, freezing nights in winter, and very little rain in between. With 1,700+ floors installed across the region, we plan each Yakima job around both ends of that range. Weather figures are from the NOAA 1991ā2020 climate normals for the Yakima Air Terminal station.
A wide swing from morning to afternoon. Yakimaās Air Terminal sits near 1,060 feet and logs about 147 days a year with a low at or below 32°F, but only about 19 days when the high stays there. That leaves around 128 days of overnight freeze and daytime thaw, more than the Tri-Cities see. March normals run from a 30.2°F low to a 56.6°F high, a 26-degree swing in a single day. Water in a slabās pores freezes and thaws through all of it, which is why the Yakima patios in our Showcase had structural cracks and spalls repaired first. We have installed 1,700+ floors, and residential work carries a lifetime warranty.
Both ends of the thermometer
Concrete expands in the afternoon heat and contracts on a 24°F night, and water that gets into a crack and freezes widens it. We fill cracks and joints before color goes down, and the polyurea/polyaspartic system we use is chosen for UV and temperature swings.
Two garages and two patios from the same summer
Our Showcase lists four Yakima jobs from July and August 2026: two garage floors in Pebble Beach and Silver Creek flake, and two patios in Trail Mix and Stone/Marble Hybrid. Together they show what we do for Yakima homes, indoors and out.
Outdoor concrete needs repair first
Both Yakima patio write-ups describe repairing cracks and spalls before coating, and one notes several structural cracks in the slab. Exposed patios take the most weather, so the prep matters more than the color. We repair what can be repaired and tell you what cannot.
What we coat in Yakima
OUR SERVICE AREA
Do you work in Yakima?
Yes. Yakima is on our Tri-Cities-side service area, served from our satellite office in Richland, and the Showcase has recent Yakima garages and patios. There is normally no travel charge, though some outlying projects have one, and we tell you before you decide.
How long does a Yakima garage take?
Most garages up to 900 sq ft (up to 3 cars) are installed in one day. You can usually walk on the floor after 12-24 hours, and we confirm when it is ready to drive on, because cure times change with the weather.
Will a coated patio handle Yakimaās summer sun?
The topcoat is a UV-resistant polyaspartic made for sun exposure, and the Showcase has Yakima patios coated this summer. No coating is maintenance-free, but a sealed flake surface is simple to sweep and rinse.
What if my Yakima slab is cracked?
Cracks and spalls are normal in older slabs. We repair them with Penntek menders before coating, and at the free in-home estimate we tell you in writing what we can fix and what we cannot.
How do I get a price for a Yakima floor?
Request a free online quote or call 208-244-0694. We then schedule a free in-home estimate, because price depends on size, hardness, moisture and repairs. Our residential work carries a lifetime warranty.
Yakima projects from our Showcase
These photos are from the public Croc Coatings Showcase, filtered to Yakima. The stories below paraphrase the project write-ups there.
Pebble Beach flake garage, Yakima
This August 2026 garage began with moisture testing and surface preparation. The crew applied a polyurea basecoat with a full broadcast of Pebble Beach flakes and finished with a polyaspartic topcoat. The write-up calls the result a seamless, slip-resistant surface that is easy to maintain. See this project in the Showcase.
Silver Creek polyurea garage, Yakima
The crew began with moisture testing and crack repair, then a mechanical grind for adhesion. A polyurea basecoat took a full broadcast of Silver Creek 1/4-inch flake. The write-up describes a slip-resistant surface built for daily vehicle traffic and spills. See this project in the Showcase.
Trail Mix patio and walkway, Yakima
A Yakima patio and walkway were ground, moisture-tested, and repaired for cracks and spalls before a polyurea system with Trail Mix 1/8-inch flake went on. The write-up calls the finished surface weather-resistant and slip-resistant. See this project in the Showcase.
Stone and Marble Hybrid patio, Yakima
The crew repaired several structural cracks in this patio slab and tested moisture before applying a multi-layer polyurea and polyaspartic system in a Stone and Marble Hybrid blend, with Penntek basecoats and topcoats. The write-up describes a UV-stable surface that resists wear. See this project in the Showcase.

How It Works
How a Yakima floor is built, in six steps:
1: Preparing Your Floors
Diamond grinding opens the surface so the coating can bond, with HEPA vacuums catching dust.
2: Repairing Your Floors
Cracks, spalls and joints are repaired with Penntek menders and fillers.
3: Applying the Base-Coat
A self-priming Penntek polyurea base-coat is rolled out.
4: Hand-Casting the Chip
Flake is cast by hand into the wet base-coat, then left to cure.
5: Scraping the Chip
Loose flake is scraped and vacuumed off the cured surface.
6: Sealing the Clear Coat
A UV-resistant polyurea/polyaspartic topcoat finishes the system.
